Could it be the shop just up from Mytton House, it was between Mytton House and the main school complex. As a six year old in 1956 we used to sneak into the shop and buy a few pennies worth of lollies which was definitely not allowed and the very kind and sympathetic shop keeper knew it but gave us the treat anyway. It was pretty hard to walk past the shop and not pop in!
