Sister Kate’s Office
Sister Kathleen was principal of St Aidan’s for two years, 1972-73, before leaving the Society.
Sister Philippa is now the Revd. Philippa Wetherell at St James on Thornbury.
This was in the lounge room of the house known as Le Fanu. The sisters who were in residence but not acting as dormitory matrons lived here.
During 1968-1970 the sisters who were at St Catharine’s included:
Sister Angela, principal 1967-68. She replaced Sister Rachel who went to St Aidan’s as principal before returning to Community house where she became the Mother Superior. Sister Angela left the SSA (Society of the Sacred Advent.)
Sister Kathleen, principal 1969-1971. Sister Kathleen left the SSA in the early 70s.
Sister Miriam, replaced Mrs Moore in Mytton House, 1968. She may have gone to Merrilee after that, and returned to Community House in 1969.
Sister Eunice, 1969-1970, looked after the seniors in Glover House. She returned to Community House to take her final vows, and, in 1982, replaced Mother Rachel as Mother Superior.
Sister Philippa (commonly known as Pip), 1967-71, taught Speech and Drama, and religious education. After returning to Community House, she later became a university chaplain. Sister Philippa also left the order, but she did so to become an Anglican priest.
